Carol Singing

Another Monday, another sing… except that we haven’t sung together for aaaaaaaaages!

About a dozen of us however, bedecked with fairy lights, lanterns, head-torches, bright clothing and woolly hats set off from Staveley Village Hall in the mizzly 7pm dark, to sing carols to anyone who would listen – and to those who didn’t. What a fabulous evening we had! Everywhere we stopped along our figure-of-eightish loop through the village, we were greeted by opening doors and windows, friends and neighbours coming out to join a carol or two. We sang requests… repeats, and in-between made a mighty racket on whistles, hooters, bells and banging things. I have never felt so naughty… waking slumberers of all ages doubtless, feeling like the seasonal Lords of Misrule. Thank you all who turned out and who joined in… let’s not wait until next Christmas before taking to the streets again! Send in requests! … and expect to hear us round and about Staveley perhaps one evening in Spring 2021!
