About Staveley Choral Society

This page is for both current and potential members of Staveley Choral Society: come sing with us!

We are a choir based in the South Lakes area of Cumbria.  We range in age from thirteen to ninety-two – and are some of the nicest, friendliest people you could hope to meet – as well as musically able and talented of course!

We typically rehearse weekly from September to late May or early June, with a break after the Christmas concert, and a short break over Easter.  Rehearsals take place in Staveley Village Institute

on Monday evenings, 7.15-8.45.  No audition is required.  The ability to read music is not required, but if you are interested in learning, we can help – it’s very useful!

Currently Wendy Randall is Musical Director, and David Battersby our Pianist.

Wendy’s background is in Art, Music and Education – so is well qualified to teach music to all ages and  put together diverse and interesting concert programmes.

David studied piano with some renowned teachers and now himself teaches piano also performing on occasion between supporting us at rehearsals and in concerts, with other local choirs.
