About Staveley Choral Society

Staveley Choral Society is a choir based in the South Lakes area of Cumbria.  We range in age from sixteen to ninety-three – and are some of the nicest, most friendly people you could hope to meet – as well as musically able and talented of course!

We rehearse weekly from September to late May or early June, with a break after the Christmas concert, and a short break over Easter.  Rehearsals take place in Staveley Village Institute on Monday evenings, 7.00-9.00.  No audition is required.  The ability to read music is not essential, though very useful!  If you are  interested in learning, we can help.

We have been part of the singing history of Cumbria, previously Westmorland, for at least a century.  In this website we have an archive of documents and photographs.  If you have any more information you think we would be interested in, please contact us using the contact form below.

Currently Wendy Randall is Musical Director, and David Battersby our Pianist.

Wendy’s background is in Art, Music and Education, so is well qualified to teach music to all ages and  put together diverse and interesting concert programmes.

David studied piano with some renowned teachers and now himself teaches piano also performing on occasion between supporting us at rehearsals and in concerts, with other local choirs.
